Two of Statesville’s first responders were honored Wednesday afternoon at Statesville Fire Department Station One on Meeting Street. Lts. Walter Horne and Brandon Wiggins were presented Hometown Heroes awards by Statesville Randy Marion dealership General Manager Rhyne Scott. The awards were given out by the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association Charitable Foundation as part of its efforts to recognize and honor first responders. The award description said the NCADA Charitable Foundation “believes in the importance of supporting charitable causes in our communities. We are especially passionate about helping our local first responders and military heroes.”
