A woman from Cary fell on Sunday while rock climbing at Hanging Rock State Park. The N.C. Division of Parks and Recreation said park staff received the call around 3:30 p.m. and responded along with medical staff and firefighters. The 39-year-old climber fell between 10 and 12 feet at the base of Cook's Wall and injured her wrist, ankle and hip, according to officials. She was transported off the mountain by an ambulance and taken to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. The woman was conscious when rescue crews reached her. An update on her condition was not provided. According to a tweet from the Winston-Salem Fire Department, rescuers had to hike 2 miles to reach the woman and 1.5 miles over rugged terrain to get her to safety.
