Some high school students will get the chance to see what it takes to be a firefighter Thursday. As part of the Greenville-Pitt Chamber of Commerce's Grow Local campaign, 25 students from D.H. Conley High School in Greenville will get the chance to shadow first responders. Students will be paired with Greenville Fire/Rescue crews for the day to gain an understanding of the responsibilities of the job. They'll start with a tour of the station on East Tenth Street, then complete a physical fitness test and learn how to use everyday emergency medical equipment. The Grow Local campaign kicked off this week and focuses on growing the economy locally by showing middle and high school students what careers are available to them in Pitt County.
