One person is dead and another injured after an overnight house fire in Tyrrell County. The fire broke out around 1:00a.m. at a home on Hwy. 64 East in Columbia. According to the Tyrrell County Sheriff's Office, the structure was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived on the scene. Tyrrell Fire Department along with Creswell, Mid County and Plymouth Fire Departments responded. One person died in the fire, and another was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville with burns. The victims names have not been released at this time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
