A fire that broke out at the Nine Mile Rescue Squad damaged the building and two vehicles within it.
First responders arrived on scene around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and extinguished the fire around an hour later, according to Nine Mile Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Evan Crews.
“There were no injuries and nobody was hurt,” Crews said.
According to Onslow County Fire Marshal Brian Kelly, the building housed a brush truck and a crash truck that were damaged in the fire. Kelly said the brush truck was “completely destroyed,” but the fate of the crash truck and building is up to the insurance company.
Nine Mile Rescue recently merged with the Nine Mile Volunteer Fire Department, according to Kelly, and crews were in the building earlier in the day preparing for Hurricane Dorian.
