If you’ve ever been interested in learning what the job of a firefighter entails, now is your chance with the introduction of the Asheboro Fire Department’s Citizen’s Fire Academy.
The program, which will be offered for the first time this April, is designed for people with a genuine desire to learn more about the daily lives of professional firefighters, who want to heighten their awareness regarding fire and life safety and who want to enhance their knowledge of the fire service industry.
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to perform skills that professional firefighters use.
All fire program instructors will be members of the Asheboro Fire Department.
Citizens are selected based on demographics and the citizen’s ability to reach other members in their community. In preparing for the academy, efforts will be made to include members of the educational, religious and business community.
