One person sent to hospital after house fire in Durham

One person was sent to the hospital after a house fire in Durham on Thursday. The Durham Fire Department was called to a structure fire in the 400 block of Cecil Street on Thursday at around 9:30 a.m. Firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke from the garage and attic of the house when they arrived. There were 16 fire units and 39 personnel who responded and put the fire out in about 20 minutes. The house was occupied by two people; one of them was sent to Duke Hospital for precautionary reasons. The home sustained heavy damage. The American Red Cross was called in to assist the family. The origin and cause of the fire were still under investigation Thursday afternoon.
