Winterville firefighters rescued two people who were trapped in a car after a crash on Forlines Road Monday night. The Winterville Community Fire Department arrived to find a single vehicle collision in which the car left the roadway, struck a tree, rolled at least once, and came to rest on the passenger side of the vehicle, entrapping the driver and passenger in the car. Firefighters removed the windshield and pulled the two to safety; both were assessed by paramedics from Winterville EMS and officials say one was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries for further evaluation. The road was completely closed for a short period of time while crews operated in and near the roadway but once the vehicle was removed from the scene the department says normal traffic resumed on Forlines Road.
