A house fire in the 6500 block of Portsmouth Drive early Wednesday displaced a family of five, according to the Fayetteville Fire Department.
The fire was reported just after 12:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived, smoke could be seen coming from the split level home.
Four adults and a child made it out safely, according to a news release.
Firefighters extinguished a fire in the basement, which had extensive damage. Other parts of the home also had damage, the release said.
Damage was estimated at $30,000, the release said.
Fire officials said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
