Limited services are expected soon with the rescue squad in Clarkton. “Basically we would be providing rescue operations to the citizens of the community,” Commissioner Stephen Hester said. “We are going to open the building back up, but it will be a non-transport agency.” No ambulance service is in the rescue squad building currently, and none are planned. Hester wants there to be response for motor vehicle wrecks, and he wants a water rescue team. “I am still planning on getting that boat set up,” he said. “I am going to put a swift water rescue team together. He also said that he needed to get everything approved by the county as well. Hester, the town’s fire chief, said recently a call came to help someone stuck under a house. Back in July the board discussed getting rid of an extremely old ambulance. Any ambulance service coming to the area is likely coming from Elizabethtown, which is about 15 minutes away.
