The Hendersonville Fire Department has announced that Michael Ostrander will serve as the city’s new fire marshal. He had previously served as assistant fire marshal. “Fire Marshal Ostrander has a servant’s heart and deeply cares about our community,” said Fire Chief D. James Miller. “He especially enjoys interacting with merchants and teaching them ways to improve the safety of their businesses for their staff and customers.” Ostrander has been serving in the city’s Life Safety Division since he joined the organization in early 2019. He also serves as the deputy chief at Edneyville Fire & Rescue and previously served as a lieutenant with the Etowah-Horse Shoe Volunteer Fire Department and Fletcher Fire & Rescue. He has also served on Henderson County’s Technical Rescue Team during disaster deployments and worked as a crewman for the N.C. Forest Service.
