Firefighters in Thomasville tried in vain to save the life of a 22-year-old man who was brought to their station on Sunday with a fatal gunshot wound. According to Sgt. Mike Burns with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, at 11:48 a.m. Sunday a white Honda passenger vehicle pulled up to Thomasville Fire Station #2 located at 815 S. N.C. Highway 109 with a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. Emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures but the victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Burns said initial reports indicate that the vehicle was traveling north on N.C. Highway 109 near Noahtown Road when the rear passenger accidentally discharged a firearm located in a bag in the floorboard striking the front seat passenger through the seat from behind. The driver of the vehicle pulled into the fire station seeking assistance, but the victim died as a result of his wounds.
