Person rescued from trench in Asheville, taken to hospital

PHOTOS: Firefighters said they were able to free a person from a trench after they became trapped Tuesday afternoon in Asheville. The rescue happened off of Osprey Trail, according to the Asheville Fire Department. One person had been trapped but they were stable, alert, and oriented, the fire department said. Firefighters were able to dig the person out of the trench after more than three hours. That person was taken to the hospital for evaluation. A North Carolina Urban Search and Rescue Task Force also responded to the rescue.
