Several people were hurt when a boat ran aground between Beaufort and Harkers Island late Monday afternoon.
Beaufort officials said the crash happened near marker 4 in Taylor Creek after the the driver hit a shoal, causing them to crash.
Beaufort Fire Chief Tony Ray said, “We had a boat accident at Taylor’s creek in Beaufort. It was six people on the boat and the Beaufort Fire Department, Beaufort Police Department and Harkers Island Department, along with North Carolina fisheries, responded. Three people were transported.” There is no word on their current conditions.
The North Carolina Department of Wildlife is investigating.
