At the Council meeting, the City of Roxboro recognized their Fire Department for their outstanding achievements during the recent ISO rating process. Areas within the city limits, otherwise known as the Roxboro Fire District, improved from a class four rating to a class two rating. Areas just outside of the city, but that are also serviced by the Roxboro Fire Department, improved from a class nine to a class four. These improvements are profound and set Roxboro's fire department in the top 5% of the state's 1,220 departments.
The new ratings will take effect January 1, 2022 and will result in cost savings to property owners in the form of fire insurance.
Representatives from the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) praised the Roxboro Fire Department and told Council they have "a lot to be proud of."
