Greenville Fire/Rescue will conduct a multi-agency, two-day water rescue training exercise on the Tar River during August 3rd and 4th, 2022. The training will be located in the area of the Port Terminal Boat ramp. Visitors to the area should expect an increase in fire department and police presence at the boat ramp. Also, expect an increase in fire department water rescue boat traffic extending from the Memorial Drive Bridge located near the airport to the Valley Landing subdivision on the Tar River. This training will be a joint exercise with participants from Greenville Fire/Rescue, Greenville Police Department, New Bern Fire Department, and the North Carolina Urban Search and Rescue Team 10. Training participants will practice navigating boats on the water, practice using water rescue throw bags, and simulate victim removal from the water during the two-day exercise.
