Troopers say a train hit a vehicle and knocked it into the Yadkin River on the Rowan County and Davidson County line. The crash happened on Wilcox Way/US 29 around 9 p.m. Highway Patrol says it happened in Davidson County. Crews from Norfolk Southern reported striking a vehicle that was on a railroad bridge. North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed that a train hit a vehicle and knocked it into the river. Dive teams were sent to the area. Firefighters from several agencies, including the Millers Ferry Fire Department and the Salisbury Fire Department, the Rowan Rescue Squad and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office used boats to search for the vehicle. Troopers said they did not have any further information at this time.
