House Fire In Hickory, Dog Found Dead

A dog was killed in a Hickory house fire Wednesday night. Hickory firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire around 11:53 p.m. on 2217 22nd Ave Place SE. Upon arrival, they reported fire coming from the attic or roof of the single story residential building and heavy amounts of smoke inside the house. Firefighters were informed that everyone besides one dog were accounted for and outside the building. While putting out the fire and searching the building, firefighters located the dog dead. The fire was reported controlled on Thursday at 12:38 a.m., according to authorities. Hickory Fire Department responded with three engines, one ladder, one rescue truck, and two command units. According to a news release, a fire investigator from Catawba County Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause of the fire to be smoking related.
