PHOTO: Crews battled a fire Tuesday morning at the old Blizzard’s Motel in Surf City.
The Surf City Fire Department responded to the building located at 213 N. Shore Dr. shortly before 6 a.m.
Units from the Town of Surf City, Pender EMS & Fire Department, North Topsail Beach Fire Department, and Topsail Beach Fire Department were on the scene. The fire was declared under control at approximately 9:30 a.m.
“We are grateful that the quick response led to minimal spread of the fire and that the impact was mostly contained to the structure,” said Surf City FD Chief Wilson in a news release. No injuries were reported due to the fire.
Officials said Tuesday afternoon that businesses located on Goldsboro and Topsail Dr. were closed after powerlines were damaged.
