The Asheboro Fire and Rescue Department has received the best rating issued by the N.C. Department of Insurance.
has announced its new Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating. The N.C. Department of Insurance gave the Asheboro fire district an ISO rating of 1, effective May 1.
The department's North Carolina Response Rating System establishes a score from 1, the highest rating, to 10, which indicates how well-protected the community is by the fire department. Asheboro received a 1, placing it in the top 1% of fire departments.
The N.C. Department of Insurance Office of State Fire Marshal regularly inspects fire departments on a five-year schedule as part of the NCRRS. Among other things, routine inspections look for proper staffing levels, sufficient equipment, proper maintenance of equipment, communications capabilities and water source availability.
