Firefighter and resident injured in house fire in Fayetteville neighborhood

Two people – a resident and a firefighter – were injured in a residential fire in Fayetteville overnight Thursday. The Fayetteville Fire Department responded to a fire in the 1600 block of Gibson St. around 2:45 a.m. Fire was visible in the residence, but quickly brought under control, according to the department. One resident was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. A firefighter was also transported with minor injuries. The Red Cross has been contacted to provide assistance to the resident. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fayetteville Fire Department Fire Investigation Team.
