PHOTOS: A hummingbird in Cornelius is flying a little higher thanks to a firefighter.
The tiny bird was spotted Friday morning flying in the rafters of Cornelius-Lemley Fire Rescue’s Firehouse 1, seemingly unsure of how to get out. Crews said about 20 minutes later, it ended up on the bay floor.
Lieutenant Falletti picked up the tiny bird and noticed cobwebs and dust covered it, impeding its ability to fly. After a few minutes, he was able to clean the hummingbird off and let it fly away to safety.
