VIDEO: Firefighters responded to a second-floor fire Friday morning at Driftwood Manor apartments in west Raleigh.
Before 3 a.m., crews responded to a fire at 1223 Teakwood Place, in the Driftwood Manor apartments off Western Boulevard. According to the Raleigh Fire Department, firefighters arrived to find "heavy fire" on the second floor of one building.
Two units were impacted, and a total of three adults, one child and two dogs were unable to return to their homes, the fire department said. The American Red Cross was called to assist the families.
Radio traffic indicated the fire cleared by 4 a.m., when fire trucks were leaving the scene.
Earlier, WRAL News crews counted at least nine fire trucks and five police vehicles at the scene. No injuries were reported.
