According to Division Chief Jeff Roberts, the Durham Fire Department responded to a structure fire around 3 a.m. Monday on the 2700 block of Campus Walk Avenue, less than a mile away from Duke University’s campus.
Upon arrival, firefighters reported smoke showing from the third floor of an apartment building. The fire chief goes on to say that within ten minutes, a personnel of 40 firefighters brought the fire under control. Although all 36 occupants evacuated in time and no injuries were reported, seven people were displaced. Four apartment units sustained water damage and two units sustained moderate fire and water damage, Chief Roberts said.
