Firefighters from the Wilmington Fire Department and New Hanover County Fire Rescue headed to western North Carolina early Thursday morning to help with the dangers from Hurricane Helene.
“Now, as 13 of our finest run toward the threat—just as firefighters do best—we stand behind them with unwavering confidence. We hope for their safety and trust that their courage will bring comfort to those who need it most. They embody the spirit of service, ready to protect and restore hope in the face of disaster,” NHCFR wrote on their Facebook page. NHC Fire Rescue brought one of their two high-water vehicles with them to prepare for flooded roads. While it will be similar to what Southeastern North Carolina experienced last week with Potential Tropical Cyclone 8, it’s expected to be a much more widespread issue with Helene.
