Firefighters rescued four dogs from a house fire near 27th Street and Poppleton Avenue Monday evening. Crews were called just after 10:15 p.m. Officials said they saw smoke coming from the second floor. One person was home at the time and told firefighters that their dogs were in the basement. Crews rescued the dogs, which were not injured. Four people were displaced by the incident. The fire started from improper use of an extension cord, officials said.
