PHOTO: Fire destroyed a machinery shed south of Hordville Friday night and damaged the exterior wall of an adjacent photo studio.
Bill Garrett reported that he had been working in the shed a short time earlier, then went inside the house for supper. A short time later he saw a passing vehicle slow down and looked out the window to see his shed engulfed in flames.
“I could hear noise but didn’t put two and two together as far as the noise I was hearing,” he recalled. “I went to the window and saw we had a problem.”
The state fire marshal was on the scene later that night, though a final report listing the suspected cause of the fire has not yet been released.
“It’s one of those deals that happened on Good Friday, but you can’t say it was much of a good Friday,” Garrett said. “We still consider ourselves lucky as the damage could have been worse.”
