Two people called 911 after they heard a bang in their furnace room and the house started filling with smoke, Omaha fire investigators told KETV NewsWatch 7. The fire department arrived at the scene near 96th Street and Mockingbird Drive around 7 a.m. Investigators said the crews saw smoke coming from the home and flames around the furnace area. It took about 15 minutes to extinguish. Officials said no one was injured. The Red Cross was called in to assist the people living there. A water main break was also reported in that area around the same time. Metropolitan Utility District crews responded.
