According to Beatrice Fire and Rescue chief Brian Daake, full moons like the one last week are the bane of emergency services. It was also Friday the 13th, making a unique experience for the three firefighters as they received their service badges.
A badge ceremony was held Friday recognizing the completed probationary period for Anthony Brockman, Jacob Miller and Dylan Wenz. Family members pinned their badges on the three in front of their friends, family and other members of the community, signaling that they are now officially full-time members of the department.
The department currently has three shifts providing fire protection, paramedic and emergency medical services for Beatrice and surrounding areas.
