A woman was killed in a fire east of Edison on Friday. According the Edison Fire Chief, the department along with Oxford Volunteer Fire responded to the call around 1 p.m. on Friday. Officials said they're still investigating the exact cause of the blaze, but they believe a woman was doing laundry in her detached washroom when one of the appliances exploded. They say the building was fully engulfed by the time help arrived. Firefighters had the fire under control within about an hour, but officials stayed on scene for a few extra hours to investigate. Next of kin has been notified, but the woman's name has not been released.
