While much of Nebraska was waiting for the impending snow to begin, on Sunday, January 24, a pair of fires kept the Fairbury Rural Fire Department busy. Cold temperatures, wind and snow only complicated matters.
At approximately 4 p.m. Firefighters were dispatched to a house on fire on River Road, roughly two miles north of Highway 136. The house was deemed a total loss. Fire Chief Kenny Krause told FJN, “There was nothing left. It was fully involved and starting to fall down on our arrival.”
