A dog was found dead after a fire started at an Omaha home Sunday afternoon. In a news release, fire investigators said the fire started near 38th and G streets around 3:15 p.m. Crews found smoke and flames pouring from a second-story window on the front of the house. Investigators said the smoke was so thick inside it was nearly impossible to see, and they found the fire in a bedroom. Four adults and five children safely escaped. The Red Cross was called in to help. In the report, fire investigators said the fire was "accidental" and said a child playing with fire started the blaze. They added people inside the home were alerted to the fire when the smoke detector went off.
