Airports in both Grand Island and Kearney will be conducting emergency response drills this week.
The Hall County Airport Authority will conduct a full-scale emergency response drill at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport on Tuesday.
Emergency vehicles and other equipment will be staging a simulation of an aircraft accident at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations mandate airports to conduct full-scale mock emergency exercise every three years, along with annual tabletop exercises with all mutual aid and supporting agencies.
Executive Director Mike Olson said, “These exercises test the skills of the airport staff, first responders and coordinating mutual aid agencies, and assess the effectiveness of our airport emergency response plan.”
