Federal funding is coming to Nebraska to protect against wildfires.
The announcement comes after a deadly wildfire season in the state.
The USDA said more than $182,000 will be given to the Nature Conservancy to establish fire breaks, remove cedar trees and standing dead trees, and follow-up with prescribed fires at the 56,000-acre Niobrara Valley Preserve.
They said the project spans three years and will target six sites that make up 435 acres.
The USDA said the funding was made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
