A police officer was in the right place at the right time Tuesday afternoon when he noticed a tractor trailer had just caught fire in a truck stop off of Exit 5 on Interstate 93. Londonderry Fire Chief Darren O'Brien said an officer near the 137 Rockingham Road plaza spotted smoke coming out of the front of the trailer, which was parked behind the Red Arrow Diner and Sunoco gas station. The driver was inside the gas station's convenience store when the front of his truck became completely involved in flames, according to O'Brien. "The officer approached to make sure no one was inside," he said. "And luckily it was unoccupied." No injuries were reported, O'Brien said, but the truck's large sleeper was destroyed. The truck was from Michigan. It was not carrying any cargo. Officials do not know how the fire began.
