A neighbor walking her dog early Tuesday morning alerted a Ramsey family that the shed attached to their garage was on fire. The woman saw the flames coming out of the attached garage and shed and rang the doorbell of the home, waking up the family, said Assistant Fire Chief Brendan Sterbinsky. The fire traveled up into the attic space of the garage of the Elbert Street home and firefighters were able to contain the two-alarm blaze to the garage. Sterbinsky said firefighters had to pull down the wall and ceiling of a bathroom that attached the garage to the home in order to make sure the fire had not spread to the main structure.
