The funeral procession for the city’s former fire director Lloyd C. Ronchetti Sr. made a stop Wednesday at the fire company where he began his public service career.
Firefighters lined the driveway of Fire Company No. 4, known as the Main Avenue Fire Company when Ronchetti was its chief, to salute their beloved former leader.
Ronchetti, who died April 11, was 100.
Serving as Fire Company No. 4 chief for a decade, Ronchetti was named the city’s part-time fire director in 1960. He was appointed to the position full-time in 1969 and served 16 years before he retired.
