A Jackson man died Thursday at a masonry work site after a piece of equipment he was taking apart collapsed and crushed him. Kenneth Mann, 58, called 911 at 7:04 a.m. and told police that he was pinned to the ground by the equipment at Ralph Clayton and Sons, a masonry manufacturing company located along East Veterans Highway in town, according to a release from the Jackson Police. Police raced to the scene as 911 dispatchers tried to keep Mann talking before they lost contact with him. When police, firefighters and first aid arrived, they searched the business and eventually found Mann near the tree-lined edge of the large property. Mann was unresponsive and after he was freed, EMS workers administered CPR. He was taken to Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus in Lakewood where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
