Authorities have charged a Camden County woman with attempted murder for allegedly setting an occupied Woodbury home on fire.
A house on the 200 block of South Barber Avenue in Woodbury went up in flames on Aug. 4 and a resident was hospitalized with burns and smoke inhalation, according to Woodbury police. A dog was also rescued from the blaze.
Investigators labeled the fire an arson and made an arrest on Tuesday after speaking with witnesses and reviewing hours of surveillance video from the area. Taija Russell, 29, of Gloucester Township, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated arson, aggravated assault, endangering/creating substantial risk of death and criminal mischief.
She was placed in Salem County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
Officials have not disclosed a motive for the crime.
The man and dog “are both recovering well,” police noted in announcing the arrest.
