All guests and workers at a Cottontail Lane hotel were temporarily evacuated Sunday night following a fire in the boiler room.
About 10:48 p.m., the Franklin Township Police Department responded to a report of a fire at the Clarion Suites Hotel, 60 Cottontail Lane, in the Somerset section, police said in a release.
Hotel staff reported a fire in the boiler room and evacuated all the occupants in the building, the release states. Police did not indicate how many guests and workers were in the hotel at the time of the fire. A police monitoring service indicated there were flames on the roof of the hotel.
The fire was extinguished, and the cause of the fire was deemed the result of a mechanical problem. The hotel was later determined to be safe by fire command and all occupants were allowed to return. No injuries were reported, the release states.
Somerset Fire Rescue, Elizabeth Avenue Fire Company, Middlebush Fire Company, Bound Brook Fire Department and the Millstone Valley Fire Department responded, police said.
