A house on Walker Avenue recently sold to new owners that was undergoing interior renovations and was destroyed in a fire early Wednesday morning, according to township officials. Firefighters arrived at 3 a.m. and found the vacant ranch-style home at 55 Walker Ave. partially collapsed with flames shooting through the roof and second-story windows, Battalion Chief Joseph Gaul said in a release. “It appears this fire was burning for a while before anyone noticed and we were dispatched to the scene,” Gaul said. “It took about an hour for our firefighters to bring it under control, but it appears to be a total loss.” The cause of the fire is under investigation, but police Lt. Robert Dudash said it does not appear to be suspicious, the release states.
