Edison firefighters rescued an unconscious woman from her burning home on Wednesday, Deputy Fire Chief Andy Toth said. The fire broke out in a mobile home in the Edison Mobile Home Estates, just off Route 1, around 11:30 a.m. The woman likely collapsed from smoke inhalation, Toth said. Toth and Fire Chief Brian Latham were the first to arrive at the home. "When we got there, flames were already coming from some windows and there was heavy black smoke," Toth said. Firefighters carried the woman outside, and she was given CPR until she could be taken to JFK Medical Center for further treatment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
