In 95-degree temperatures and 55 percent humidity, firefighters battled three simultaneous blazes on Apple Valley Drive in the Belford section on Saturday morning, according to a fire department spokesman. Two homes and a recreational vehicle between both houses were reported to be ablaze at 11:47 a.m. when firefighters from the Middletown Township Fire Department were called to the scene, spokesman Dennis W. Fowler said. One of the houses sustained heavy fire damage to its left side first floor and attic, while the other sustained heavy fire damage to its right side and heavy smoke damage throughout. The RV was destroyed, Fowler said. New Jersey Natural Gas and Jersey Central Power & Light Co. shut off utilities to both homes.
