The city has completed its internal review of the certification of Sea Isle City Volunteer Fire Department Chief Frank P. Edwardi and concluded that Edwardi holds the certificates necessary to be fire chief for the city.
According to a release, in June 2019, the State of New Jersey erroneously concluded that Edwardi did not have the required certificates and issued a letter of removal. The city makes no statement as to how the state lost Edwardi’s certificates and came to that mistaken conclusion.
Edwardi, working with Sea Isle City’s Volunteer Fire Company and Police Department, is in the process of re-submitting his certifications to the state to clear his name. For health reasons, Edwardi has not actively led the Sea Isle City Volunteer Fire Department in over a year.
Edwardi has been a member of Sea Isle City’s Volunteer Fire Department for nearly five decades and has been fire chief for nearly eight years.
Edwardi receives a small stipend, consistent with that which is offered to all Sea Isle City volunteer firefighters.
