Trains on New Jersey Transit’s Northeast Corridor line faced lengthy delays Wednesday morning after a car somehow got wedged under the passenger platform at the Edison station and blocked one of the tracks. Photos showed the front of a sedan across one of the four tracks that pass through the station. The middle and rear of the vehicle were wedged under the eastbound platform. Another photo showed that the car appears to have plowed through a chain link fence that separates the parking lot from the platform. The car also knocked over a sign. A train was stopped just feet from the car after the sedan wound up on the tracks just after 7 a.m. The driver’s gas pedal apparently got stuck after dropping off a passenger at the station, according to someone at the scene.
