Three police officers advanced a step in their law enforcement careers and the fire department welcomed three new volunteers.
Those who took on new public safety responsibilities after taking oaths during Tuesday’s City Council meeting are:
Nicholas Santiago - full-time police officer.
Lorena Hernandez and Geovanni Cuadrado - special law enforcement officers II.
Howard Ore, Anthony Lopez, and Luis Martinez-Pena - volunteer firefighters.
The city welcomed the trio of certified firefighters who completed the Cumberland County Fire Academy and passed their state exam.
The city’s fire director Richard Franchetta commended their commitment to the more than 200 hours of training. They exchanged their green recruit helmets for yellow helmets bearing their station number.
Volunteers are assigned to the station closest to their homes “to help ensure a quick and efficient response to the firehouse,” Franchetta said.
Ore, 24, will serve with Fire Station No. 2
Lopez, 24, and Martinez-Pena, 24, are assigned to Fire Station No. 4.
