Monmouth County named a new fire marshal amid complaints from some firefighters who say county officials skipped over the man who was supposed to be next in line for the job. Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders selected Fred Migliaccio as the next fire marshal. Migliaccio's term goes until Jan. 14, however he can be reappointed to one-year terms. Migliaccio, 64, has been a firefighter for 45 years in both West Long Branch and Long Branch and has worked in the fire marshal's office for 25 years. Migliaccio is also a councilman in West Long Branch. The county fire marshal leads the office that investigates all major fires in the county, including those with burn victims, fatalities and where arson is suspected. The county fire marshal's office also handles fire investigations for towns that do not have fire marshals.
