Three fires broke out in Paterson on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, displacing four people in total and seriously damaging a vacant home on Fair Street.
Paterson firefighters responded to the three-story, multi-family home on Fair Street after receiving a call about a fire at 3:02 a.m. Wednesday, said Deputy Chief Donn Langevin.
The fire briefly rekindled around 7:30 a.m., bringing firefighters to the scene again. Langevin said the rekindled fire in the attic was quickly extinguished and firefighters were back at the firehouse within 30 minutes.
The entire structure was damaged from the fire and the back portion of the home's roof was gone, Langevin said. There was fire damage to the second and third floors while the first floor suffered from smoke and water damage. It is not clear where the fire started.
