A Middlesex County man is accused of setting off an explosive device at an apartment while three people were asleep inside, authorities said Tuesday.
Police on Monday arrested 52-year-old Anthony Fede for offenses including aggravated arson, aggravated assault, possession of an explosive device for an unlawful purpose, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
A search of Fede’s Spotswood residence also turned up several boxes of fireworks, marijuana and “other evidence” linking him to a blast shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday at Tall Tree Apartments in Jamesburg, the prosecutor’s office said.
“A preliminary investigation determined that Fede placed an explosive device at the window of the apartment and ignited said device,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement. “At the time of the explosion, three occupants were asleep in the room.”
