A large explosion at an oil refinery in South Philadelphia early Friday shook homes across the Delaware River in New Jersey.
The blast occurred around 3:20 a.m. at the Philadelphia Energy Solutions Refinery on Passyunk Avenue, city officials said. No injuries have been reported, though the extent of the damage and the cause of the explosion is unclear. Residents in South Jersey and Delaware County, Pennsylvania reported feeling the explosion. Earlier, a part of the Schuylkill Expressway (Interstate 76) was closed, but it has since been re-opened, the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management said in a series of tweets.
Firefighters were still battling the blaze as of 7 a.m.
